Founded in Sydney in 1993, Freelance Shoes is a family-run haven for modern women seeking stylish footwear. Owned and operated by passionate individuals, the brand curates a diverse collection of contemporary designs and trends, empowering women to express their confidence and individuality. Following its acquisition by Novo Shoes, Freelance has retained the expertise of Terrific Minds, the agency that has consistently elevated the Novo brand. This collaboration ensures that Freelance continues to offer the same level of success and value to its customers as Novo Shoes.
Despite experiencing rapid growth, Freelance Shoes' ecommerce platform couldn't keep up. It lacked the flexibility to showcase their diverse collection of fashion-forward footwear. Additionally, the platform wasn't built to scale seamlessly, creating concerns about handling increased traffic and demand as their business expanded. Furthermore, a suboptimal user experience frustrated browsers, resulting in lost sales conversions. Recognizing these limitations, Freelance required a dynamic solution: a customizable canvas to curate stunning product displays and highlight key pieces, intuitive navigation for effortless browsing, and human-centered design that prioritized a pleasant and engaging shopping experience.
We teamed up with Freelance to tackle their unique challenges with some custom-made solutions. One big task was moving their online store from Shopify to Magento without disrupting sales. Normally, this kind of switch causes around 14 hours of downtime, but we managed to pull off a seamless transition, thanks to our expertise in Magento. We worked closely with the Freelance team throughout the process creating an efficient and cooperative partnership.
By collaborating with Terrific Minds, Freelance successfully migrated to the latest version of Magento, a high-performance, scalable ecommerce platform, which vastly improved their user experience and sales capabilities. Key upgrades included thoughtfully designed category menus that reflect shopper behavior, high-resolution zoomable product imagery for detailed views, predictive search and filters to quickly find desired items. These upgrades enabled users to browse styles with ease, view relevant items, and encounter fewer obstacles during their shopping journey.
We achieved increased cart completion through predictive search aligning with buyer intent and the efficiency of Instant checkout expediting orders. The integration of these advanced technologies improved product discovery and streamlined transaction processes, leading to measurable enhancements in vital conversion metrics. To bolster their online presence, SEO strategies, including targeted content creation and technical optimizations, were executed. Site speed was optimized by compressing text-based resources, minimizing payload sizes through JavaScript file minification, and implementing image preloading for dynamically added Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) elements, resulting in a significant LCP improvement to just 1.8 seconds. These strategic modifications collectively elevate the website's performance and responsiveness.
